Abstract

The invention concerns a binding machine (10) including: a magazine (14) configured to hold a staple (S) that includes a first leg portion (S1) and a second leg portion (S2), and that has an opening between the first leg portion (S1) and the second leg portion (S2); a driver (42) configured to move the staple (S) held by the magazine (14) in a forward direction with the opening at the front; a guiding portion (42B) configured to guide an inside of the first leg portion (S1) when the staple (S) is moved by the driver (42); and a displacement portion (20) configured to bind an object (G) to be bound inserted into the opening by displacing the first leg portion (S) of the staple (S) moved by the driver (42). The guiding portion (42B) is configured for retracting from a guide position for guiding the inside of the first leg portion (S1) when the staple (S) moves by a predetermined distance.
