Abstract
The present invention relates to determining a Volterra series representation of a nonlinear system. According to the method a bandpass input signal and an output signal in response to the input signal are received. Further inputs are the expected maximal nonlinearity order in the system and the highest order of the Taylor approximation of the kernels in the Volterra representation. The frequencies excited in input and output signal spectrum are determined. For each order of kernel in the Volterra series a number of steps are performed to determine a Taylor series approximation, wherein coefficients, depending on the set of excited frequencies and on the central frequency bin, are multiplied with derivatives which are model parameters of the nonlinear system. The coefficients are determined via transformations between time and frequency domain. A least-squares problem is solved to obtain the actual model parameter values, thereby making use of the spectrum of the measured output signal and said coefficients. The Volterra series representation of the nonlinear system can then be determined using the model parameters for the different kernels.
