Abstract

A heat-not-burn consumable for use with a heat-not-burn unit has two storage portions arranged so that the first storage portion will be located in use between the second storage portion and a heating element of the heat-not-burn unit. Each storage portion has a substrate for generating an aerosol. The substrate of the first storage portion is formed of a different material composition from the substrate of the second storage portion. For example, the first storage portion may have a non-tobacco substrate imbued with a liquid/gel precursor, and the second storage portion may have a tobacco substrate. In use, due to its closer proximity to the heater, the first storage portion will be heated to greater temperatures than the second storage portion and can therefore help prevent the substrate in the second storage portion from overheating and burning. Also provided is a heat-not-burn apparatus having the heat-not-burn consumable and the heat-not-burn unit having the heating element for heating the consumable.
