Abstract

Computer-implemented method for tracking a position and an orientation of a target object in a worksite, in which the target object and a surveying instrument configured to emit a tracking light and measure a position of the tracked target object are deployed, the method being performed by a computer system and comprises: ▪ Predicting a position and an orientation of the target object with respect to a previous position and a previous orientation by integrating in time of a 3D acceleration measured by an accelerometer sensing unit and of a 3D angular velocity measured by a gyroscope sensing unit, the accelerometer sensing unit and gyroscope sensing unit being attached to the target object, ▪ Correcting at least once the predicted position and orientation by using a first position of the target object measured by the surveying instrument, and ▪ Further correcting over time, the corrected position and orientation with any of a further position of the target object measured in time by the surveying instrument and an incident angle measured in time by a first sensor, the first sensor being attached to the target object.
