Abstract

A computer-implemented method for traffic simulation, the method comprising: accepting input of traffic data; modelling the effects of an action in a traffic simulation at a plurality of possible time points, by: executing a traffic simulation, using the traffic data, from an initial time point up to a first possible time point to obtain a first preliminary simulated segment state; modifying the first preliminary simulated segment state with the action and executing the traffic simulation beyond a second possible time point to obtain an action simulated state for the first possible time point; executing the traffic simulation from the first possible time point up to a second possible time point, using the first preliminary simulated segment state as an initial state, to obtain a second preliminary simulated segment state; modifying the second preliminary simulated segment state with the action and executing the traffic simulation beyond the second possible time point to obtain an action simulated state for the second possible time point; and comparing the simulated states.
