Abstract

The present disclosure relates to an electrical system 100 for a vehicle 10. The electrical system 100 comprises: a port 110 including a control pilot contact 8; and a controller 190 comprising a power terminal PT1 for receiving a supply voltage. The power terminal PT1 of the controller 190 is electrically coupled to the control pilot contact 8. The present disclosure also relates to a method 400 comprising causing 406 a ready signal to be transmitted to a charging station 100* from a vehicle 10, 100 via a control pilot contact 8 using electrical power drawn through the control pilot contact 8, the ready signal being for prompting the charging station 100* to supply electrical power to the vehicle 10, 100 through at least one power supply contact 6.
