Abstract

In a computer-implemented method for assisting a driver of a vehicle (1), sensor data representing an environment of the vehicle (1) is received directly or indirectly from at least one environmental sensor system of the vehicle (1). Based on the sensor data, it is determined whether the vehicle (1) is currently in a safe environment according to at least one predefined rule. If it is determined that the vehicle (1) is currently in the safe environment, user parameter, which comprises a request to activate a simulation of a driver assistance function of the vehicle (1), is output to a driver of the vehicle (1). A user input accepting or declining the request is received and, depending on the user input, the simulation of the driver assistance function is carried out.
