Abstract
A method and system for securely transferring control of protection for a railway asset, from an operator of a rail control system to a trackside user is provided. The method includes steps of authenticating the trackside user, communicating, via a communication channel between the trackside user and operator, a token for applying the protection to the railway asset, validating the token at the rail control system, and applying the protection to the railway asset at the rail control system, in response to successfully validating the token.
