Abstract

This application discloses a transition animation effect playing method, and pertains to the field of interface switching technologies. The method includes: displaying, by an electronic device, a first interface, where the first interface includes a first control; performing a drawing operation on a second interface in response to a tap operation input by a user on the first control; sending an animation effect start notification message to a target animation effect playing thread after the drawing operation on the second interface is completed; drawing, by the target animation effect playing thread, a transition animation effect between the first interface and the second interface in response to the animation effect start notification message; and displaying, by the electronic device, the second interface after display of a plurality of frames of animation effect pictures is completed. In this way, compared with a solution in which a Vsync signal is used to trigger to draw a transition animation effect, in this application, after the animation effect playing thread receives the animation effect start notification message, a procedure of drawing a transition animation effect can be triggered without waiting for triggering by a Vsync signal. In this case, a tap response delay can be shortened by half a Vsync period on average.
