Abstract
Provided is a mold powder for continuous casting that enables production of high-quality cast steel and prevention of operational problems when continuously casting high-Al steel. The mold powder for continuous casting has a chemical composition including at least one oxide selected from the group consisting of CaO, BaO, MgO, La<2>O<3>, and ZrO<2>, aggregate carbon, Al<2>O<3>, fluorine compound, and Li<2>O, with the balance being inevitable impurity. Al<2>O<3> content is 25 mass% to 35 mass%, total content of Ca, Ba, Mg, La, and Zr as oxide equivalent is 40 mass% to 60 mass%, F content is 3 mass% to 10 mass%, Li content as Li<2>O equivalent is 6 mass% to 12 mass%, total content of the inevitable impurity is 0 mass% to 2.0 mass%, and Y, expressed as -12.7 × (%C) + 51.8, is 5 to 35.
