Abstract
A leaning vehicle capable of offering increased suppression of an influence that an operation of a brake device gives to a riding posture of a rider who is holding a handlebar in a leaning state is provided. The leaning vehicle includes a vehicle body, a rear wheel, a front fork, a front wheel, a handlebar, a power source, an automatic transmission, a front brake device, a rear brake device, a brake drive device, and a vehicle following control device. The vehicle following control device, after starting a decelerating control on a leaning vehicle, makes the automatic transmission perform a shift-down operation so as to reduce the amount of descent of the handlebar caused by the operation of the front brake device. The automatic transmission is a device for changing the speed ratio of rotation of the rear wheel. Given that the rotation speed of an output shaft of the power source is unchanged, the shift-down operation by the automatic transmission reduces the rotation speed of the rear wheel, and increases the torque of the power source as viewed from the rear wheel. Accordingly, due to the shift-down operation, a braking force of the rear wheel exerted by a resistance of the power source increases.
