Abstract

The invention relates to a method for continuously treating an water stream (101), said method comprising [a] a precipitation step (102), wherein in said precipitation step the pH of an influent water stream (101) is electrochemically adjusted to a pH suitable for the precipitation of a salt, said salt being dissolved in said influent water stream (101), to obtain a precipitated salt (104) and an exhausted water stream (103), and [b] a neutralisation step (105), wherein in said neutralisation step the pH of said exhausted water stream (103) is electrochemically neutralised to obtain a treated water stream (106). The invention also relates to a water treating device (1) suitable to implement said method.
