Abstract

A computer system and a method for controlling longitudinal movement of an ego vehicle, such as during travel behind a preceding vehicle, the method comprising: controlling (301) the longitudinal movement of the ego vehicle according to a first operating mode by sending acceleration requests to a propulsion system and/or a brake system, each acceleration request defining a set acceleration, determining (302) that a predefined low-speed condition applies, controlling (303) the longitudinal movement according to a second operating mode in response to the determining of the predefined low-speed condition by sending at least one distance request to the propulsion system and/or the brake system, each distance request defining a set longitudinal distance that the ego vehicle is to move from a current position of the ego vehicle.
