Abstract

Fastener (100) for forming a mechanical seal with a first workpiece (108) comprising: a fastener body (104) extending along a longitudinal axis (110); a fastener head (102) extending radially at a first end (114) of the fastener body (104); and a chamfer sealing portion (106) having a chamfer sealing surface (170) arranged to engage the first workpiece (108), the chamfer sealing portion (106) extending between the fastener head (102) and the fastener body (104); wherein the chamfer sealing surface (170) is inclined with respect to the longitudinal axis (110) at an angle between 15 degrees and 30 degrees; and wherein an axial length of the chamfer sealing portion (106) in a direction along the longitudinal axis (110) is between 0.1 mm to 0.4mm.
