Abstract

The invention relates to a photonic device (1) comprising a waveguide (10) in which light is dedicated to propagate along a main optical propagation direction (A), said waveguide comprising a central portion (10c) extending along the propagation direction. The device further comprises a phase change material (PCM) patch (20) disposed on the waveguide, wherein the PCM patch is dedicated to be heated. The device further comprises at least one heat sink (100) configured to drain heat from the PCM patch when heated, said heat sink being distinct from the central portion of the waveguide and having a thermal conductivity greater than or equal to that of the waveguide. Another aspect of the invention relates to a photonic system comprising said photonic device.
