Abstract

The present invention discloses a device comprising an electrochromic cell comprising an electrochromic formulation, wherein the electrochromic formulation comprises: - A solvent, - An ionic electrochromic compound CO dissolved in the electrochromic formulation, and - A lithium salt dissolved or dispersed in the electrochromic formulation. said device further comprising means to apply electric energy to the electrochromic cell, said means being configured to be able to maintain the electrochromic cell in at least two states SO and S1, wherein: - In SO, no electric energy is applied to the electrochromic cell, - In SI, at least part of compound CO present in state SO is excited into a compound CO*, wherein CO and CO* do not have the same color.
