Abstract
There is described a method of simulating a vibronic system with an arbitrary number of diabatic electronic states on a quantum computer. A vibronic Hamiltonian that corresponds to a plurality of electronic states and a plurality of vibrational modes of the vibronic system is decomposed into a plurality of block diagonalizable elements. The exponential of each block diagonalizable element is implemented on a qubit register on the quantum computer. The exponentials of the plurality of block diagonalizable elements in the qubit registers are then combined to derive an exponential of the vibronic Hamiltonian to be simulated.
