Abstract
What claimed is an antioxidant composition comprising or consisting of (a) at least one primary antioxidant, which is a 2,5-dihydroxy alkanoic acid, a salt or an ester thereof according to formula (I).wherein R stands for hydrogen, a monovalent cation, a C<sub>1</sub>-C<sub>6</sub> alkyl or an C<sub>2</sub>-C<sub>4</sub> alkenyl group; and (.......) has the meaning of a single or double bond; and (b) a carrier on condition that said compositions are free of oxidative dyestuffs.
