Abstract

A device (110) for driving a fastener into a workpiece, preferably wherein the fastener is a nail, comprising:- an air spring chamber (112), preferably wherein the air spring chamber (112) is an air spring cylinder;- a piston (114), wherein the piston (114) is arranged within the air spring chamber (112) in a manner that the piston (114) is moveable from a ready position along a drive axis (140) in order to force the fastener into the workpiece;- a preload system (116), wherein the preload system (116) is configured for preloading the device (110) by forcing the piston (114) in the ready position applying a preloading force;wherein the preload system (116) compriseso a chain (142) configured to transmit the preloading force to the piston (114) oro a hydraulic system (150) configured to transmit the preloading force to the piston (114).
