Abstract

[Problem] To provide a thermosensitive recording medium that has good color developing sensitivity, thermal printing runnability (particularly prevention of head debris adhesion), and rubfastness, as well as good printing preciseness during high-speed thermal printing, and a method for manufacturing the same. [Means to solve the Problem] A thermosensitive recording medium having an undercoat layer, a thermosensitive recording layer comprising a colorless or pale colored electron donating leuco dye, an electron accepting color developing agent and a sensitizer, and a protective layer on a substrate in this order, wherein a combined amount(in solid) of the leuco dye, the color developing agent and the sensitizer in the thermosensitive recording layer is 70 weight % or more, and a coating amount of the thermosensitive recording layer is 2.5 g/m<2> or less.
