Abstract
Disclosed herein is a method of producing, even from a raw material containing various impurities, a nickel (Ni)- and cobalt (Co)-containing hydroxide usable as a precursor of a positive electrode active material. The method includes: washing a Ni/Co mixed hydroxide with water; alkali washing the water-washed Ni/Co mixed hydroxide for a predetermined washing time with a basic aqueous solution having a predetermined concentration and a predetermined liquid temperature; subjecting the alkali-washed Ni/Co mixed hydroxide to leaching treatment at a predetermined temperature using an aqueous ammonia solution having a predetermined ammonium carbonate and/or ammonium hydrogen carbonate concentration to obtain a Ni- and Co-containing leachate; heating the Ni- and Co-containing leachate at a predetermined temperature to deposit these Ni and Co as a hydroxide; and alkali washing the deposited hydroxide for a predetermined washing time with a basic aqueous solution having a predetermined concentration and a predetermined liquid temperature.
