Abstract

A pump includes an electromagnet; movable plates attracted toward the electromagnet by a magnetic field generated at a time of energization of the electromagnet; leaf springs to which the movable plates are attached, and configured to bias the movable plates in a direction opposite to an attraction motion of the movable plates toward the electromagnet; a flow channel through which a fluid flows; pump chambers disposed in the flow channel; and pistons disposed on the movable plates and configured to decrease and increase volumes of the pump chambers in accordance with motions of the movable plates. A core of the electromagnet has a winding portion around which a coil is wound at a central portion along a direction of the magnetic field, and a pair of widening portions formed to protrude toward the movable plates, respectively, relative to the winding portion at both ends along the direction of the magnetic field. When a direction perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field is defined as a width direction, the widening portions are formed to protrude by a same amount along the width direction. Portions of the flow channel including the pump chambers are disposed adjacent to positions on opposite sides of the widening portions, respectively, from the winding portion, with a flow direction being along the width direction. The pistons are disposed on the movable plates and adjacent to positions on opposite sides of the widening portions, respectively, from the winding portion.
