Abstract

A method of manufacturing a battery cell (10S) including an electrode body (10) including electrode foils (1) having active material layer formed portions (11) and active material layer non-formed portions (12), and a current collecting terminal joined to the active material layer non-formed portions (12) is provided. The method includes a first step of causing the electrode foils (1) to contact with and adhere to each other in the active material layer non-formed portions (12), to form a reduced thermal resistance portion (RT) of the electrode foils (1) in which thermal resistance in a contact adhered portion of the electrode foils (1) is lower than that in a discrete portion of the electrode foils (1), and a second step of joining the electrode foils (1) and the current collecting terminal by laser welding while the reduced thermal resistance portion (RT) is in contact with the current collecting terminal to connect a nugget boundary of a laser welded portion (LY) to the reduced thermal resistance portion (RT).
