Abstract

According to one embodiment, a method for providing communication between a first mobile terminal served by a first satellite and a second mobile terminal served by a second satellite is described, wherein the first satellite implements a first media access gateway, the method comprising checking whether there is connectivity between the first media access gateway and the second satellite and, in response to a detection that there is connectivity between the first media access gateway and the second satellite, setting the first mobile terminal to use a first Internet Protocol address of the first media access gateway under which the first mobile terminal can reach the first media access gateway for communication with the second mobile terminal and setting a second media access gateway implemented in the second satellite or the second mobile terminal to use a second Internet Protocol address under which the first media access gateway can be reached via the second satellite.
