Abstract

The sand moulding chamber (1) includes a chamber top wall (3), a chamber bottom wall (4), and two opposed chamber side walls (5, 6), wherein an internal side of each said chamber wall is provided with a machined contact face (9) for attachment of a wear plate, wherein an external side of the sand moulding chamber forms a number of tie rod bearing extensions (15) having bores (16) for tie rod guide bushings for guiding, in a longitudinal direction of the sand moulding chamber, respective tie rods of a compacting system of a vertical sand moulding machine, and wherein each tie rod bearing extension includes a machined contact face (20) for the respective tie rod guide bushing. The chamber top wall, the chamber bottom wall, and the two opposed chamber side walls together form a main chamber element (21) made from one single metal casting.
