Abstract

A method of operating a robot controller (120) and a sensor (130), the method comprising:initializing a controller clock (123) in a controller operating system (122) of the robot controller;initializing a sensor clock (133) in a sensor operating system (132) of the sensor;performing a bidirectional clock synchronization procedure using a bidirectional data connection (161) between the robot controller and the sensor;after completion of the clock synchronization procedure and while controlling a robot manipulator (110) using the robot controller, recording operational data (OD) of the industrial robot using the robot controller and recording measurement data (MD) using the sensor;timestamping the operational data on the basis of the controller clock;timestamping the measurement data on the basis of the sensor clock; andmaking the timestamped operational data and the timestamped measurement data available to an evaluation component (140).
