Abstract

A method and system of detecting visibility and/or surface conditions at a location in a road network. The method comprises capturing with a camera (30) at least one image (60) of a junction located in a road network where a traffic light is located. The image is communicated to software running on a computer system. The image is input to an Al component of the software trained to output a classification of the image relating to the visibility or surface condition. The visibility or surface condition is detected based on the classification.
