Abstract

To provide a method for manufacturing an absorbent article that can reduce installation costs and floor space required for installing apparatuses. The method for manufacturing an absorbent article includes: a continuous body forming step; a setting step; a continuous body transporting step; a first manufacturing step; and a second manufacturing step. In the continuous body forming step, a continuous body having a plurality of absorbent bodies in a state where the absorbent bodies are connected in series is formed. In the setting step, a transport path of the continuous body is set to either a first transport path or a second transport path. In the continuous body transporting step, the continuous body is transported along the set transport path. In the first manufacturing step, the continuous body transported along the first transport path is cut and separated into individual absorbent bodies and a first absorbent article including the separated individual absorbent body is manufactured. In the second manufacturing step, the continuous body transported along the second transport path is cut and separated into individual absorbent bodies and, using the separated individual absorbent body, a second absorbent article of a different type from the first absorbent article is manufactured.
