Abstract
A computer system (500) includes processing circuitry (510) configured to i) obtain an indication of a usage scenario and/or internal (and/or external) state of an entity, e.g. of an electric vehicle, including a battery energy storage system (ESS); ii) determine state-of-power, SoP, values for each of multiple battery packs of the ESS; iii) determine SoP values for the whole ESS by fusion of the SoP values for the battery packs determined in ii), and iv) determine a target SoP and control a charging/discharging of the ESS based on the target SoP value. The processing circuitry selects a particular set from a plurality of different sets of constraints corresponding to different trade-offs between entity performance and battery lifetime, based on the usage scenario and/or state, and uses this set as part of at least one of ii), iii) and iv). Each set of constraints includes a set of battery electro-thermal constraints.
