Abstract

A hood ornament lamp housing (14) is provided to provide illumination through a cut out area (12) in an outer vehicle hood (10). The lamp housing (14) has first and second sections (28,30). The first housing section (28) houses electrical components such as a printed circuit board (32). The first housing section (28) includes a mounting flange (40) configured to connect the first housing section (28) with an inner hood component (18). The second section (30) houses electrical components such as LED lamps. The second section (30) contains mounting tabs (54) that engage projections (26) connected with an inner hood component (18) to clip the lamp housing (14) in a desired location relative to the outer hood (10). The lamp housing (14) further includes a lens (16) for disposition in the cut out area (12) of an outer hood (10) to provide illumination.
