Abstract

An artificial leather comprising: a fibrous base material composed of a nonwoven fabric and a woven fabric entangled and integrated together; and a polyurethane having a hydrophilic group, wherein the nonwoven fabric is composed of polyester ultrafine fibers having an average single fiber diameter of 0.1 µm or more and 10.0 µm or less, the woven fabric is composed of a multifilament having 30 or more and 300 or less filaments, and the filaments constituting the multifilament have an average single fiber diameter of 1 µm or more and 30 µm or less, a content rate of the polyurethane in the artificial leather is 15 mass% or more and 25 mass% or less, and a ratio of filaments to which the polyurethane is attached among outermost peripheral filaments of the multifilament is 10% or more and 80% or less. Provided are an artificial leather composed of a fibrous base material including a nonwoven fabric and a woven fabric entangled and integrated together and a water-dispersed polyurethane, the artificial leather having high strength and excellent suppleness and abrasion resistance, a method for manufacturing the same, and applications of the same.
