Abstract

In a first mode, a virtual object is controlled based on an output of a mouse sensor (24, 44). In a second mode, a virtual object is controlled based on an output of an inertial sensor (83, 84, 96, 97). In a third mode, a virtual object is controlled based on an output of a directional operation portion (22, 42). When the mode is the first mode, the mode is shifted to the second mode, based on at least a first condition being satisfied, and the mode is shifted to the third mode, based on at least a second condition being satisfied.
