Abstract
Provided is a negative electrode active material including secondary particles assembled from a plurality of primary silicon particles; amorphous carbon filled between the primary silicon particles, surrounding a surface of the primary silicon particles, and surrounding a surface of the secondary particles; and particulate silicon present within the amorphous carbon or independently of the secondary particles and having a cross-sectional area of 0.5 µm<2> or less, wherein a proportion of the particulate silicon is 6.5 area% or less but excluding 0 area%.
