Abstract
A wound-field rotor (60) for use in a wound-field type rotating electrical machine (40) includes a rotor core (70) having main poles (72) provided for respective magnetic poles arranged in a circumferential direction of the rotor core and protruding in a radial direction of the rotor core and a field winding (80, 180). The field winding is formed by winding a conductor (90, 190) around each of the main poles with the radial direction serving as a winding axis direction. The conductor includes, as the conductor element, a stranded wire (91, 191) which is an aggregate of a plurality of wires (91a, 191a) twisted together. The conductor is wound around each of the main poles such that, when the wound-field rotor rotates, a direction in which a centrifugal force acting on the conductor causes the conductor to rotate substantially coincides with a direction in which a twist of the stranded wire becomes tighter.
