Abstract

Provided is an electrode particularly excellent in air stability and electron injection properties, and an organic device including the electrode. The present invention relates to a thin film-modified electrode including: an electrode; and a layer containing at least one metal and an organic compound capable of coordinating to the at least one metal, the layer being in contact with the electrode, or both a layer containing at least one metal, the layer being in contact with the electrode, and a layer containing an organic compound capable of coordinating to the at least one metal, the layer being in contact with the layer containing at least one metal, the organic compound being a compound containing atoms capable of coordinating to metal and having a sum of distances from the atoms capable of coordinating to metal in the organic compound to an aluminum atom of 4.06 Å or less, as determined from a structure optimized by density functional theory calculations, where the aluminum atom is set as the metal, using functional: B3LYP/basis set: 6-31G**.
