Abstract

A skiving cutter is rotatable around an axis. The skiving cutter is provided with a plurality of cutting edges arranged side by side in a form of an annular shape around the axis. The skiving cutter has a base body portion and an edge tip portion. The edge tip portion is contiguous to the base body portion. The edge tip portion is provided to be arranged side by side with the base body portion in a first direction toward a front side of the skiving cutter along the axis. The base body portion is composed of one of a cemented carbide or a high-speed steel. The edge tip portion has an edge tip layer and a cemented carbide layer. The edge tip layer forms a plurality of cutting edges. The cemented carbide layer is provided between the edge tip layer and the base body portion. The edge tip layer is composed of any one of a cubic boron nitride sintered material, a diamond, or a special cemented carbide.
