Abstract

A production system for flexible pouches (100) having a bottom gusset comprises first and second bottom sealing stations (11, 12) each having one or more bottom sealing units (13) with first and second bottom sealing jaws (14, 15). Each sealing jaw (14, 15) comprises a sealing face (16a and 16b) configured to project across a bottom region (104) of the bottom gusset of a pouch and across a side edge section (110a, 110b) of each of the side edges of said pouch, as well as across an adjoining side edge section (110a, 110b) of each adjacent pouch, i.e. upstream and downstream pouches. The side edge sections (110a, 110b) each extend from below to above the folding line (108, 109) of the bottom gusset.
