Abstract

The present invention obtains a control apparatus and a control method capable of assisting a rider in driving a bicycle including a transmission. A control apparatus (30) and a control method according to the invention are a control apparatus (30) and a control method for controlling behavior of a bicycle (1) including a transmission (19). An execution unit of the control apparatus (30) executes gear ratio adjustment operation of automatically adjusting a gear ratio of the transmission (19) to be a target gear ratio. The execution unit starts execution of the gear ratio adjustment operation based on surrounding environment information in front of the bicycle (1).
