Abstract

The present application relates to a sensor system for an aerofoil, a related aerofoil arrangement, an aircraft and a method. The sensor system includes an optical fiber sensor, a light source, an optical circulator and a signal processing device. The optical fiber sensor is configured to be attached to the aerofoil blade and includes an optical fiber core. The optical fiber core includes a first half and a second half divided by a virtual plane extending in an axial direction of the optical fiber core, and a first Bragg grating and a second Bragg grating with different grating periods are etched in the first half and the second half, respectively. The light source is connected to a first port of the optical circulator, an upstream side of the optical fiber sensor is connected to a second port of the optical circulator, and the signal processing device is connected to a third port of the optical circulator. The optical fiber sensor receives light emitted by the light source and reflects an optical signal associated with central wavelengths of the first Bragg grating and the second Bragg grating to the signal processing device. The signal processing device calculates deformation amount and/or temperature of the optical fiber sensor based on the optical signal.
