Abstract

A color generation system includes: an acquisition unit configured to acquire a reference spectrum which is a spectrum of a reference color and a subject model indicating a color vision system of a subject; a response calculation unit configured to calculate, as a reference response, a response from a color vision system of a reference observer who has visually recognized the reference color, based on a predetermined reference model indicating the color vision system of the reference observer and the reference spectrum; a spectrum calculation unit configured to calculate a conversion spectrum for causing the subject model to output a response that matches or approximates the reference response; and a generation unit configured to generate a corresponding spectrum which is a spectrum of a corresponding color corresponding to the reference color, based on the conversion spectrum.
