Abstract
With the aim of providing an efficient decomposition method for vulcanized rubber, a decomposition method for vulcanized rubber includes a first decomposition step of causing a radical initiator to act on vulcanized rubber or a composition containing the vulcanized rubber under an atmosphere containing oxygen gas to thereby cause conversion into a soluble decomposition product, and a second decomposition step of converting the soluble decomposition product obtained in the first decomposition step into a low molecular weight compound having 10 or fewer carbon atoms through thermal decomposition.
