Abstract

A polymer suitable for use as a base polymer for an adhesive agent is provided. A base polymer for an adhesive agent is a polymer with a branch structure including a lactic acid unit, a caprolactone unit, and a polyalcohol unit with three or more hydroxyl groups, the proportion of the lactic acid unit being 20 to 50 mol %, the glass-transition temperature being not higher than -15 °C, wherein at least one of Fα and Fε represented by the expressions provided below is not less than 0.35: Fα = Iα*/(Iα+Iα*), and Fε = Iε*/(Iε+Iε*), where Iα, Iα*, Iε and Iε* are values obtained from a <1>H-NMR spectrum of the base polymer for an adhesive agent.
