Abstract

With the aim of providing a method for decomposing crosslinked rubber capable of improving the yield of C4-C10 chemicals, a method for decomposing crosslinked rubber includes: a first decomposition step of decomposing crosslinked rubber containing diene rubber using a catalyst represented by any one of the following formulae (1) to (3) (in the formulae, M is ruthenium, molybdenum, etc.; X¹, X², L¹, L², and L³ each independently represent a ligand; R¹, R², and R³ each independently represent hydrogen, an alkyl group, an alkenyl group, an aryl group, etc. (these groups may be substituted with an alkyl group, halogen, etc.); L¹ and L², R¹ and R², as well as L¹ and R¹ may be bonded to each other to form a ring); and a second decomposition step of heating a decomposition product obtained in the first decomposition step under an inert gas atmosphere and in the absence of a catalyst, at a heating rate of 800°C/min or more from 100°C to 450°C, and performing thermal decomposition at 450°C to 950°C.
