Abstract

A LiDAR sensor (10) for measuring the range to an object by emitting measuring light (31) comprises a base (12), a photonic integrated circuit (16) supported by the base (12), a lid (20) attached to the base (12) and covering the photonic integrated circuit (16), and a heat transfer element (30) sandwiched between the photonic integrated circuit (16) and the lid (20). A soft thermal interface material (32) is sandwiched between the photonic integrated circuit (16) and the heat transfer element (30). The heat transfer element (30) is slidably guided in an opening (28) in the lid (20), and/or the lid (20) is slidably guided on the base (12), so that an axial position of the heat transfer element (30) is only determined by the thermal interface material (32). In this way, the thickness of the thermal interface material (32) does not depend on tolerances and can thus be kept to a minimum. This results in a very low thermal resistance of the thermal interface material.
