Abstract

An image forming apparatus (1) includes an apparatus body (2), an image carrying member (61), a developing portion (63), and a container (11). The developing portion (63) is supported to be swingable about a rotation shaft (636) relative to the apparatus body (2), and is movable about the rotation shaft (636) between a developing position where the developer carrying member (634) is located close to the image carrying member (61) and a retracted position where the developer carrying member (634) is located away from the image carrying member (61). The container (11) is removably mounted in the apparatus body (2), and stores toner supplied to the developing portion (63). The rotation shaft (636) of the developing portion (63) has a toner inlet portion (636a) through which the toner in the container (11) passes into the developing portion (63).
