Abstract

There is provided a communication method performed by an aerosol generating apparatus, the method comprising: establishing a communication connection with an external device, and after establishing the communication connection: receiving a data packet from the external device, wherein the data packet contains: m bytes providing a message authentication code, where m is an integer; r bytes providing a packet-specific random number, where r is an integer; and e bytes providing a payload, where e is an integer; and verifying the message authentication code using the r bytes and the e bytes.
