Abstract

It is possible to obtain an electromagnetic-wave absorber that can favorably absorb electromagnetic waves with high frequencies in or above the millimeter-wave band, and that can favorably absorb electromagnetic waves with a desired frequency even when the ambient temperature has changed. Provided is an electromagnetic-wave absorber containing, in a binder 1b, magnetoplumbite-type hexagonal ferrite 1a that magnetically resonates in a millimeter-wave frequency band, wherein a portion of metal sites of the magnetoplumbite-type hexagonal ferrite is substituted with La, and in a graph showing a relationship between the frequency of an incident electromagnetic wave and a value of a complex relative permeability imaginary part of the electromagnetic-wave absorber, when the temperature of the electromagnetic-wave absorber has changed from 25°C to 105°C, a frequency value at which a positive peak is present indicates a positive percentage change, and a ratio of a change amount of the frequency at which the positive peak is present when the temperature has changed from 25°C to 105°C, to a frequency value at which the positive peak is present at 25°C is 1.5% or less.
