Abstract

The present application relates to a method of manufacturing a polymeric cast substrate, the method comprising the steps of: - providing a casting mold assembly containing two unsealed mold parts each having an inside surface and an outside surface, the inside surface of at least one of the unsealed mold parts comprising a composition comprising a UV absorbing agent; - arranging the inside surfaces of the mold parts opposite to each other and closing the casting mold assembly so that the inside surfaces of both mold parts form together the molding cavity; - filling a polymerizable composition in the molding cavity; - curing the polymerizable composition in the mold assembly to obtain a polymeric cast substrate. The present application further relates to an optical article, preferably a lens, comprising a polymeric cast substrate manufactured according to this method, and also relates to an eyewear comprising such optical article.
