Abstract

The invention relates to a laboratory sample distribution device (1), comprising: a base (2) having a transport surface (3), at least one drive-controllable lane belt (4) defining a transport lane (5), the lane belt (4) being cleated for form-fit engagement with a respective sample container carrier (50) to be moved over the transport surface (3) along the transport lane (5), at least one drive-controllable cross-track belt (6) defining a transport cross-track (7), the cross-track belt (6) being cleated for form-fit engagement with a respective sample container carrier (50) to be moved over the transport surface (3) along the transport cross-track (7), the transport cross-track (7) meeting the transport lane (5) at an angle (α), an operation mode in which the lane belt (4) and the cross-track belt (6) are controlled for transferring a respective sample container carrier (50) between the transport lane (5) and the transport cross-track (7), and another operation mode in which the lane belt (4) and the cross-track belt (6) are controlled for moving a respective sample container carrier (50) along the transport lane (5) past the transport cross-track (7).
