Abstract

There are provided a light source unit, a light receiving unit provided with pixels with a plurality of charge storage elements and a pixel drive unit, and a range image processing unit controls the pixel drive circuit to store the charge in each of the charge storage elements and calculate a distance to the subject based on amounts of the charge stored in the charge storage elements. The range image processing unit stores the charge in each of the charge storage elements based on a plurality of drive patterns, and performs processing such that, in the charge storage elements in which the charge is stored in accordance with the plurality of drive patterns, the charge storage elements whose storage delay time is smaller become smaller in the number of light receptions than the charge storage elements whose storage delay time is larger. The number of light receptions is the number of times the charge is stored into the charge storage elements during a reflected light reception interval from the irradiation timing to a timing at which a reflected light reception time elapses.
